MPs’ 18-month job ban after leaving politics: Barilaro report

NSW Ministers will be banned from taking a role in a public sector agency relevant to their former role for 18 months after leaving government following a review into John Barilaro’s appointment to a US trade post.

The review of the controversial hiring process found that a recruitment process for a prestigious US trade role was not conducted at “arm’s length” from a senior minister, and that information a top public servant handed to ministers regarding the first round of recruitment for the senior US trade role was “misleading”.
