Australian Democrats leader Ms Cheryl Kernot yesterday reshaped the Federal political battleground in the lead-up to the next election with the shock announcement of her resignation to join the Australian Labor Party.

Ms Kernot resigned from both the Australian Democrats and the Senate and will contest the Queensland Federal seat of Dickson for the ALP at the next poll.
