Industry slams ‘whitewash’ Victoria government report into CFMEU

Industry groups slammed a Victorian government inquiry into construction union intimidation that took place under the watch of Premier Jacinta Allan as failing to provide protections for whistleblowers or take meaningful steps towards cleaning up the sector.

Ms Allan on Wednesday repeated vows to remove the “rotten culture” of the CFMEU as she released the final report of a Labor-appointed review into allegations of widespread criminality in the industry and underworld infiltration of the union exposed by The Australian Financial Review and other Nine-owned outlets.
