The Coalition’s signature superannuation reform package cleared the Senate on Thursday, heralding the biggest shake-up of Australia’s $3 trillion superannuation system in years.

Superannuation funds will now face an annual performance test, public ranking by the Tax Office and the loss of an easy source of new members under a suite of measures the government hopes will improve the performance of the super sector.
