Replacing stamp duty with land tax is unquestionably sound reform. It’s also the political equivalent of tossing your political opponents a loaded bazooka.
In fact, if you were to nominate a single idea as a killer counterpoint to the beautiful notion that good policy equals good politics, the introduction of land tax would have to be a frontrunner.
