Net loss of life from pandemic could be 40. Here's why

The number of coronavirus deaths isn't much higher than a drop in road fatalities caused by fewer people travelling by road.

The national road toll this year is 365, which is 60 deaths fewer than in the same period last year, according to figures published on Thursday by the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics.
