Omicron wave has peaked in Queensland: Palaszczuk

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the omicron wave had peaked in the Sunshine State, but health authorities warned the death rate would remain high even as hospitalisation numbers fall.

As thousands of school children returned to the classroom in Queensland on Monday, after their summer holidays were extended by a fortnight, Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said she expected some spikes in case numbers during term one.
