NSW QR check-in crash prompts calls to end 'Soviet' monopoly

Fears that NSW has created a state-owned software monopoly for its mandatory Service NSW check-in system were fuelled on Thursday after the system crashed for more than two hours, leaving thousands of venues unable to register visitors.

The crash came amid calls for the NSW government to allow private check-in systems to digitally connect with the Service NSW, rather than mandating a "Soviet-style" state monopoly.
