NAPLAN vital for judging schools’ progress

Australia will only return to the top of international test rankings if NAPLAN is part of the national armoury to improve individual student, school and system-wide performance, an education expert says.
Last week, over 1 million students undertook NAPLAN, with 700,000 doing it online. But the 13-year-old test continues to attract criticism as academics and unions condemn it for prompting undue stress levels in students.
