A new professorial chair of medical research in Sydney is to be endowed to the tune of $20 million, in an unconventional move by its wealthy board.

While $10 million would be considered extremely generous in Australia, financial elites on the board of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute are striving to change its funding paradigm. This endowment will be the board’s second funding innovation.
