Britain has thrown away its vaccine advantage

Internationally, the so-called English experiment in opening up even as infections rise is regarded with horror.

It’s not going well again, is it? Vaccine success was meant finally to put the lid on COVID-19, rendering the disease little more than a minor irritant and allowing the economy to return to a semblance of normality.

But here we still are, mired in a coronavirus muddle that has become one largely of our own making. Britain deserves better, but somehow it eludes us.
