When the state’s chief health adviser implies she might not be unhappy if diagnosed COVID-19 cases rise in coming days – because it will demonstrate the virus carriers are being hunted down and isolated – it suggests management of the Sydney outbreak may be working.
After the state recorded 112 new cases on Monday, a figure that might otherwise have triggered panic, Dr Kerry Chant and Premier Gladys Berejiklian sounded unexpectedly sanguine.
