Why Biden’s decision may be too late
The president’s move to pull out of the race makes for another extraordinary episode in the drama of the US election.
Jennifer HewettColumnistIt took far too long for a stubborn, proud man to see what most American voters have long believed. Joe Biden at 81 is too old and frail to successfully run for the presidency again. His decision to finally step aside came after weeks of attempting to delay the inevitable.
Most of his party and the public expected Biden to lose the election against Donald Trump. His successor will at least have a chance to try to resuscitate what had become a political death march.
