Beijing lashes Australia over ‘China threat’ meeting with allies

Tokyo | Beijing has lashed out at Australia for “brazenly” spreading a false “China threat” narrative, after Defence Minister Richard Marles met his allies at a security conference in Singapore on the weekend.

China’s foreign ministry condemned the United States, Australia, Japan and the Philippines for meeting on the sidelines of the conference to discuss concerns over Beijing’s growing military assertiveness in the South China Sea and wider region.
