The gas industry has always had a friend in the Coalition. But it’s not every day you find Labor prime ministers spouting their talking points.

On Monday, when Anthony Albanese was asked whether his government’s widely anticipated decision to sign off on a multi-decade extension of Woodside’s North West Shelf gas export facility could be squared with Labor’s climate commitments, the prime minister was unequivocal.
