Some of the country’s biggest developers of wind and solar farms say new planning rules for renewables projects in NSW will speed up approval processes that had dragged out to extraordinary lengths for large wind farms.
The rules issued on Tuesday by NSW Planning Minister Paul Scully set minimum distances for wind turbines and transmission towers to cut their visual impact and to minimise the noise in the case of turbines. Glare from solar panels should be kept to less than 10 minutes per day.
