Three reforms that can make us the world's low-carbon superpower

No other country has the new energy opportunities that we do. And changes needed are consistent with government policy.

The early and orderly movement to zero-emissions electricity is the cornerstone of the decarbonisation of the Australian economy. It is also the foundation for Australia’s emergence as a superpower of the post-carbon world economy.

In 2008, electricity generation accounted for nearly 40 per cent of Australian emissions. A decade later, electricity emissions had fallen significantly in absolute levels, to about a third of the total.
