The Garnaut-Sims power plan is Argentina on steroids
The $100 billion carbon tax proposal would be an act of amazing self-harm and would destroy Australia’s big export industries to force-feed unproven ones.
Ed ShannEconomistRoss Garnaut and Rod Sims have produced a Superpower Institute proposal to raise $100 billion from a tax levy on Australian emissions from below-ground mineral deposits and imports.
In the case of exports, it will be based on the emissions they produce domestically and the emissions they generate in the countries that buy our exports. This revenue will be used to force-feed a major structural economic transformation.
