Powder hounds will be able to hit the slopes early in Victoria and NSW, with Mount Buller and Perisher set to open a week early after a cold snap and strong snowfalls.

Melbourne experienced the coldest day of the year on Tuesday, with a maximum temperature of 11.4 degrees, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, while Wednesday marked Sydney’s coldest day of 2022.
