Koki Mashita is a young man with a big idea: that humans have the power to intervene in natural disasters such as cyclones and hurricanes, reducing their impact as they hit landfall, saving lives and billions of dollars.
The solution sounds more sci-fi than hard science and involves flying cargo planes around the periphery of developing weather systems and dumping salt-based aerosols on them.
