As activist shareholders ramp up pressure on mining and energy producers to quit lobby groups that breach the spirit of the 2015 Paris climate accord, Mr Macfarlane defended them, saying the resources industry would have come to a halt during  the pandemic lockdowns were it not for industry associations’ leadership through the constantly changing health and travel restrictions.
