Eastern states set for hot nights and a soggy rest of summer

Australians on the country’s east coast should brace for more soggy days and sweltering nights for the rest of summer, according to the national forecaster – but not at the devastating scale of recent years.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned there was up to a 70 per cent chance rainfall would exceed median levels from North Queensland right down to the NSW Central Coast.
