Why PM not yet meeting tariff TACO Trump is no bad thing

Australia has little to gain by negotiating on trade, whereas the White House would put AUKUS and defence spending on the table.

In the waning hours of the July 9 deadline, the US has once again stepped back.

In reality, the “90 deals in 90 days” aspiration was never likely to eventuate. The administration has admitted as much with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick saying they expect to focus on getting agreements with about 10 to 12 countries.
