At the least, the Treasurer should join with whoever can claim to be an economic rationalist in this government to yell stop, wrong way, go back.
This is the week that Australia went further down the dead-end policy road of greater government intervention into the economy that will weigh against both the pressing inflation fight and the nation’s future growth and prosperity.
Anthony Albanese’s newspeak is that Labor’s Future Made in Australia plan to revive local manufacturing is the “new competition” dictated by the international trend set by US President Joe Biden’s perversely named Inflation Reduction Act.
