‘Smears and lies’: Spender blasts claim she wants to raise taxes

Allegra Spender has hit back at a new right-wing campaign group that has plastered the teal MP’s electorate with ads saying she wants to raise taxes, labelling the claims misinformation and calling for truth in political advertising laws.

Former Liberal MP Julian Simmonds in September launched Australians for Prosperity, a grassroots campaign outfit that plans to target marginal Labor seats and the teals at the next election by running against the government’s stalled efforts to raise taxes on people with $3 million in superannuation.
