Small business unfair contract protections extended

As the Coalition and Labor jostle to win the support of small business heading into the May federal election, Assistant Treasurer Stuart Robert has proposed proposing to make it easier for firms to qualify under the small business definition for unfair contract terms.

The Morrison government will toughen up unfair contract terms to better protect small businesses in their dealings with larger firms, including by making such conduct illegal and punishable by civil penalties.
