Rod Carnegie’s seminal lunch with Paul Keating
For all his brilliance as a strategist and manager, Sir Rod Carnegie, who died at the weekend aged 91, never envisaged the power of compulsory super to change Australia’s financial relationship with the rest of the world.
Carnegie had a big-picture view of the world and used his position as chief executive of mining company CRA (1973 to 1986) to advocate for reform of the regulatory and tax systems to address Australia’s declining international competitiveness.
