Remember the GFC in loan buffer debate

I may be 70 years and expected to suffer the malaise of failing memory, but some things are etched in my brain forever. Like the global financial crisis of 2007-8.
As Wikipedia describes it: “Predatory lending in the form of subprime mortgages targeting low-income homebuyers, excessive risk-taking by global financial institutions … culminated in a ‘perfect storm’, which led to the Great Recession.”
