RBA deputy talks up renewable energy potential

Reserve Bank deputy governor Andrew Hauser has talked up Australia’s potential to be a world leader in producing – and, potentially, exporting – solar energy, as the nation debates the best energy mix to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

In his first full speech since starting in the job in February, Mr Hauser said more than half of Australia’s goods exports consisted of iron ore, gas and coal; resource endowments that were “below ground”.
