Queensland finds new coal markets to replace China

India, Japan and South Korea have picked up the shortfall from China’s informal ban on Queensland’s coal exports, according to new figures.

Although there were concerns about the impact of China’s hardline position on Australian exports, including coal, as well as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, coal exports from Queensland rose 35.7 per cent in 2021.
