Qld braces for $2.5 billion coronavirus hit

The Queensland government will offer a $500 million interest-free loan facility to businesses affected by the coronavirus, which they now estimate will deliver at least a $2.5 billion hit to the state's economy.

As part of a rolling package to deal with the fallout from the global pandemic, which is hitting the state's tourism industry hard, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Treasurer Jackie Trad announced they would extend their previously announced payroll tax deferral policy to all businesses across the state.
