Tax investors to pay working mums, Treasury suggests

Government financial assistance to encourage mothers and the jobless to work more may need to be funded by reducing tax breaks for investors, Treasury secretary Steven Kennedy has signalled.

In comments previewing the Albanese government’s employment white paper, due in September, Dr Kennedy said the tax-transfer system was discouraging secondary earners and people on government benefits from working more.
