Labor productivity falls for the first time in 25 years: ABS
Labour productivity in Australia has fallen for the first time in 25 years, raising serious concerns about what economic reforms are in place to improve the productivity of workers.
Official figures show that labour productivity fell 0.2 per cent in fiscal 2019, or even more, down 0.8 per cent, when adjusted for the quality of work performed, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The figure is the first negative recording since the data series began in 1994.
