Government out of tune on climate
Kevin ChinneryOpinion editorMichael McCormack’s use of the word "woke" in his ranting comments yesterday about “inner-city raving lunatics” was a giveaway. Can’t say I have ever heard a farmer use the word "woke", but it simply illustrates the enormous gulf between the federal government’s ineffective action on climate change and what a large majority of its constituents know should be done. Climate and weather forecasts by the Bureau of Meteorology and other experts must be listened to. They not only agree that climate change “is real”, they also know how much the lack of federal government action is impacting on our economy, let alone the lost lives and extensive trauma caused by disasters.
