Jacinda Ardern is expected to be easily re-elected tomorrow as both head of a Labour-led New Zealand government and a model avatar for the world’s woke classes.
Becoming a mother in office, and then her inclusive response to the Christchurch massacre of Muslim worshippers, made her a global heroine for the Instagram age – and the natural face of a small, admired, pristine and affluent nation – despite achieving little of policy substance in her three years in office.
