As is the custom in the United States, every incoming President makes a pledge to “bring the country together” and seek “bipartisan support” for important new policies.

As might be expected, US President-elect Joe Biden is no different, and there are growing hopes that he might be able to heal the wounds on both sides of the political divide after the tumultuous reign of his predecessor, Donald Trump.
