Forrests say childcare beats construction as bang-for-buck stimulus

Andrew and Nicola Forrest are heaping pressure on the Morrison government to overhaul childcare and boost early childhood learning as part of the multibillion-dollar economic stimulus packages being rolled out in the wake of COVID-19.

The Forrest family’s Minderoo Foundation has not put a figure on its funding push but pointed to recent Grattan Institute analysis showing a $5 billion-a-year increase in the childcare subsidy would deliver an $11 billion boost in gross domestic product.
