Coalition vows to scrap emissions reporting as Trump prepares rollback

The Coalition has vowed to repeal new laws requiring businesses to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions if it wins this year’s federal election, amid expectations the Trump administration is poised to scrap similar rules in the United States.

New Australian laws came into effect on January 1 requiring some large companies to publish a sustainability report alongside their annual financial disclosures, and will next year require the reporting of “scope 3” emissions generated by a company’s suppliers and customers.
