Sitting through a conference recently alongside a young analyst from one of Asia's newer democracies was illuminating.
While participants from less changing regimes explained why old ways still worked, this analyst could barely contain himself. "Doesn't he realise that things have changed," he fumed. "Some of us are actually democracies now."
