Hong Kong | Hundreds of thousands of people returned to Hong Kong’s streets on Sunday in defiance of Beijing’s backdown over controversial extradition laws which has triggered an outpouring of anger in the former British colony.
ln the second mass protest in the city in a week, crowds of protesters chanting slogans and wearing black sent a clear message to China that the woman it hand-picked to lead Hong Kong must resign. Organisers said late Sunday that 2 million people, almost 30 per cent of the city's population, took part.
