Economists fear the $300 billion retail sector may be on the verge of recession after sales dipped again in March, confirming feedback from retailers that consumers have cut spending as living costs rise.
Retail sales slipped 0.1 per cent in March, falling well short of expectations of a 0.3 per cent month-on-month increase, after dipping 0.2 per cent in February.
