Retail sales jump in October the most in five months

Retail sales rose in October by the most in five months, beating expectations, as shoppers spent more at restaurants and eating out.
In figures that sent the Australian dollar up sharply, sales rose 0.5 per cent from September, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday. Economists had tipped a 0.2 per cent rise.
