Barnaby Joyce has defended receiving free accommodation during his marriage breakdown, warning MPs attacking each other over personal matters could lead to a ricochet effect across Parliament.

Labor again called on Mr Joyce to resign as Deputy Prime Minister on Thursday over a breach of ministerial standards for failing to declare an estimated $12,000 worth of free accommodation in his electorate during last year's New England by-election.
