Australian shares are set to plunge anew amid another violent sell-off in global equities even with the US central bank stepping up with a massive liquidity boost.
Trading was halted for 15 minutes shortly after the open in New York after the S&P 500 fell 7%; the second time this circuit breaker was triggered this week. The pause failed to keep the index from closing in a bear market.
