‘Fears are overblown’: ASX steadies as recession panic eases

A global markets rout that dragged the Australian sharemarket to its worst session in years appears to have cooled, as several commentators predict the sea of red may already be overdone.

Australian shares closed 0.4 per cent higher on Tuesday, rebounding from a staggering 3.8 per cent sell-off on Monday – its worst in more than four years – which preceded strong losses on Wall Street.
