ESG funds are shrinking as managers, investors move on

For the first time, money managers in the United States closed more ESG funds than they opened. In Australia, flows are also slowing right down.

Amid the uproar about remuneration and company performance this annual meeting season, one usual area of tension – climate activism and environmental targets – seems to have been overlooked.

Is it a coincidence that this comes as ESG funds – once so powerful that terms like greenium, a premium paid for an environmentally friendly company, were thrown about – have well and truly peaked?
