US oil fell below $US35 a barrel, while gold and copper faltered. The ASX is poised to open lower as resource stocks weigh on Wall Street. Both Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton closed lower in London.
US stocks closed lower on Thursday, led by declines in energy and materials shares, a day after shares rallied on the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 252.98 points, or 1.43 per cent, to 17,496.11, the S&P 500 lost 31.16 points, or 1.5 per cent, to 2041.91 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 68.58 points, or 1.35 per cent, to 5002.55.
