Small investors will report this week a new sense of optimism about the outlook for the S&P 500, at least according to the latest sentiment survey by the American Association of Individual Investors.
Bullish sentiment – expectations that stock prices will rise over the next six months – rose 10.8 percentage points to 33.3 per cent this week. In contrast, bearish sentiment dropped 10.6 percentage points to 35 per cent. Neutral sentiment was little changed at 31.6 per cent.
