Australian shares are poised to record a loss for just the third time this decade when the closing bell rings on the 2022 financial year on Thursday.

Following a monster 24 per cent return in 2021, the S&P/ASX 200 Index is on track to lose around 8 per cent at the close of ASX trading with technology and consumer discretionary stocks declining deep into the red.
