ASX to fall, S&P 500 ends its quarter on a positive note

Australian shares are poised to fall to start the final quarter of the year. The S&P 500 edged modestly higher later, in choppy trading, to start the week, and end the September quarter.

The S&P 500 closed the third quarter with a more than $US2.5 trillion rally, according to Bloomberg’s calculation. The S&P 500 secured its fourth-consecutive quarter of gains — the longest such winning stretch since 2021. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 notched a similar run.
